Healing & Recovery – Day 26
30 Days to Healing and Recovery Day 26 by Dana Jacoviello
6. Ask someone for help. I challenge you to go out and not fear admitting you need help. We all need help at some point in our daily lives. So today I am asking you to do this. This can coincide with a support group. Reach out to someone if you at any moment need something today. I don’t know many people in the healing and recovery process that don’t require daily maintenance to keep the momentum going. That is what the people in your life are there for. They have your back. You know who these people are. This is one of the hardest things we have to do in life. Most won’t admit it, but it is true. It can be the simplest thing such as asking for directions, but we let our pride stand in the way. This has to be in relation to your healing and recovery process. So basically, don’t ask someone to help you get three pigs for your farm on Farmville. Don’t pretend you have no idea what I mean by that statement. J By asking for help you are becoming accustomed to not being alone or indulge in pointless suffering. You are facing your fears and becoming healthier and more awesome version of you. There is never a stupid question and there is never anything to small. We do take this step of asking for help by walking into a support group and this is why it goes hand in hand with finding one. So why do I say ask for help? How many times do you find that people leave the group or ask for help once and later stop? In the beginning fear takes over a great deal. Don’t make it a habit to reach out and reach back either. That takes a lot of energy and makes a relationship challenging until it becomes non-existent.You push and eventually people do push back. You will be pleasantly surprised on the people in your life that show up for you when you need it the most. Trust in them to do so until they give you a reason not, too.
