Step 6 of the 12 Things That MUST Be On Your Everyday “To Do” List
- Do something for someone else without expecting anything in return. This would be classified as a selfless act. Some people do not believe in these. They believe that we always receive something out of it whether it be happiness, joy, or pride; however, I believe in it. I think that an emotion is a normal human reaction. I am happy that I made someone else happy. It is not necessarily doing anything specifically for me. I am not happy for myself. I happy for them. You challenge is to truly be selfless today as many times as you would like. Really think about if you expect something in return. If a friend does us a favor or lends us money, how often do we somewhere deep down inside expect it back even when we say don’t worry about it or expect them to help us when we need it. Time and time again I have seen people become irritated that said person was not there to help them in their time of need. This is NOT a selfless act, but you will know when it is. You will feel it deep within your heart and in your soul. It is an indescribably feeling you have towards the other person…not yourself. You tell me if it exists.
