Illuminate the Committee in Your Head – Day 2
Illuminate the Committee in Your Head Day 2

Releasing Your Roles
Our most fruitful practice is the one that most gently leads us into ourselves just as we are, into the innate perfection of our true nature.
~Wayne Muller
You will need your list of roles from yesterday’s exercise, many little slips of paper, a pen or pencil, and either a fire to burn them or a plot of ground to burn them. As you write each role you identified yesterday onto a separate little slip of paper, imagine that you are releasing the future of that role. For example, if the slip says “parent” imagine what it would feel like to release the expectations that you have of your children and of yourself as a parent. If the slip describes your job, imagine what it would be like to release those stresses and responsibilities. As you imagine each role dissolving, take a deep breath and hold the slip of paper up to your mouth and blow into it with the intention of releasing. (The breath is a subtle energy transporter. According to the practice of energy medicine, blowing one’s intentions with the breath into paper, rocks, or sticks unravels energetic bonds. If subtle energetic anatomy is unfamiliar to you, just focus on the fact that a deep breath into the paper feels really good and trust yourself to experiment a little.) As you complete the release of each role you can throw the paper into the fire, or bury it ceremoniously. You have not released your relationships, responsibilities, or loves, but you have released some beliefs and expectations related to the roles those relationships, responsibilities, and loves bring about.
