Inner World of Yoga – Day 12
The first time I considered or even heard about “choosing “ how to use my energy, was years ago in the early 1970’s when I was introduced to TM™, Transcendental Meditation. I attended many weekend programs, a month long program stateside and a three month program in France in 1972, to become an Initiator with the TM organization. I viewed hundreds of hours of tapes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and had the privilege of meeting him the day I received my certificate of completion for the initiator program. During my training we received a lot of teaching and commentary from Maharishi based on the ancient wisdoms from India.
It was made very clear to us that to reach for and work for higher levels of consciousness not only brings one a happier and more fulfilling life, but puts increasingly positive energy out into the Universe, improving not only our own life, but also the lives of all around us, and indeed the state of the world itself.
We may at times think we don’t have a choice in what we say and do, that it is just the way we are, negativity and all. Incorporating the practices and principles of YOGA into our everyday life can change that fatalistic viewpoint and instead bring permanent states of wellbeing and joy, leaving behind the bewilderment of good days followed by bad days. As we adopt positive values and practices, like looking after the health of our body and our mind by eating nutritious food, getting enough exercise and sleep, and using practices to go within and build inner strength, we detoxify, balance and build greater and greater awareness of our true self.
