Inner World of Yoga – Day 15

Healing and transformation are an inner journey undertaken by the individual. The responsibility for transformation rests with the individual. Responsibility for your actions and transformation lie only and ultimately with you. This can seem daunting and is why we run to practitioners, concepts and techniques for help either because we don’t believe we have it within us to make this change – or – we simply are afraid to see what is inside of us.

So, where and how do we begin? If you’ve been with me since week 1, you already have.

All endeavors come with a dual edge. One is sharp, focused and true, and removes the curtain to reveal the truth. The other is dull and opportunistic, rearranging concepts and language to suit an immediate purpose for personal gain. In truth, we cannot avoid either edge, and often need to use the dull edge to scrape away a certain amount before the sharp edge can be used to reveal what is real. The difference in karmic energy is: If we are pure in our intent to grow, and are true to what we know to be “right/ethical” at that time, we do not necessarily accumulate negative energy, although the law of energy still applies, and when we move beyond that present state we may “see” our past action very differently.

However, if we know something to be wrong, and engage anyway, then we are consciously accumulating negative karma and compounding the lessons we still need to learn. In either case, when we perceive a hurt to someone else, we find growth when we take action to make it right. This is the ongoing process of karma or action and the law of energy; for every action there is a reaction. Right action and selfless action with no expectation of reward or personal gain bring positive energy. This is the goal and can only be achieved by working on the self and transforming, healing and growing in consciousness. As we grow, increasingly flowing in harmony with energies of inner world and outer world, we need/use the dull edge less and less and our suffering diminishes.
