Inner World of Yoga – Day 15

Note: Somatic therapies may relieve symptoms, bring more physical and energetic balance and increase comfort in the body, but to effect real and lasting change for issues that cause us psychological and emotional suffering, it is the time we spend in workshops, retreats, meditation, daily yoga practices for breath, meditation and contemplation, true listening and individual counseling, that is KEY for our healing and transformation. Remember Maharishi’s sound bite: “That which you give your attention to grows stronger in your life.”

Yoga’s tools work with the innate intelligence of the body, mind and spirit to preserve and to move into wholeness. They are based on Vedic texts and principles for day-to-day living, with the ultimate purpose being not only to live a full and joyful life based in universal truths, but also to achieve the highest state of consciousness possible through a personal commitment to dharma, or maintaining and sustaining “right conduct” balancing our inner and outer worlds.

When we follow the universal principles and supporting practices throughout daily life, always to the best of our ability with the intent to grow and to achieve the embodiment of these principles, we allow them to arise naturally from within. Life’s path is meant to be a journey of growth in consciousness, moving towards achieving and maintaining balance and harmony in nature and revealing reality – both of our true nature and the nature of everything, which is that everyone and everything is one.

This week, continue with daily practices of pranayama, asana and true listening. Set up a schedule for yourself and commit a reasonable block of time to engage in some or all of these practices daily. Keeping a journal of what is coming up for you in these practices can be very helpful.
