Inner World of Yoga – Day 17
Inner World of Yoga Day 17

Faith in Yourself – What it is, how to get it, how to grow it.
Someone very close to me whom I love dearly was diagnosed a year and a half ago with stage four cancer. His doctors were nonplused because he had been the picture of health, and said it had most likely gone to his bones, and he was toast. Today he is in excellent health to the surprise of his allopathic doctors, but no surprise to his holistic D.O., and his spiritual teacher. He cleaned up his diet, is on a regimen of herbal formulas from his D.O., attends three yoga asana classes a week, attends meditations and workshops, and engages in inner meditative work daily. He continues to come to an ever greater understanding of his life, is facing issues head on and accessing his emotions with a willingness to see and invite change. His perception of what is important in life, and how life is to be lived has changed dramatically and continues to evolve.
The reason I am relating this is because early on in this process people would ask me if “he was going to make it.” Love and reason aside, I knew it was truly up to him, and I said as much to anyone who asked.
This brings us to today’s topic of faith in yourself. We all at some point in life have directed enough intent and focused energy to bring about a change or event we desire in life. Although we’ve done it in the past, this focus can be difficult to achieve when we are personally faced with a condition in life that is frightening and seems hopeless.
