Inner World of Yoga – Day 26
Our patterns and habits are formed by the vasanas and samskaras, and when they come into play in interpersonal relationships bringing up emotional charges, it is always our perceptions we need to look at within ourselves, not what the other person did.
Our decisions/issues are how we got where we are, and what we do to change is a life long journey that will happen with or without our intent and involvement. We can have conscious intent to change, or be oblivious and allow life to simply happen, but the second option will likely not raise our consciousness. When we can come to the place where we become aware of underlying issues, then we can work to uncover the seed or initial incident that created the pattern, re-experience the incident completely, and release the negative energy, meaning the decision we made.
To complete the process of change, we not only need to access the initial decision, but we also need to ask for Spirit, Divine Source, Infinite Power of Universe, or God – whatever name we use, to help us by removing the negative decision we made at the time of the experience, and replacing it with a better, more positive decision that will serve us better in this life. This is GRACE, and it is necessary and non-negotiable for true change.
Working on our inner world through the tools yoga provides, learning how to pray, finding a flowering of the heart, and a personal relationship with Divine, is essential. This is a process, and one we work on in meditation workshops and retreats. No matter what spiritual path you use to the Divine, the tools of Yoga can be applied, no matter the image you hold in your heart, whether it is Christ, Buddha, or other.
