Letting Go – Day 14
Experiences in this life contributed as well, including the death of a daughter when I was in my twenties, and the healing that precipitated. And as an artist, letting go of the idea that it wasn’t possible that I was actually illustrating other people’s life dreams was hugely significant as well.
More recently, I had an invaluable experience of shamanic death. What started out as a conscious action to take on/carry a demonic energy for the purpose of keeping it away from a group of teenagers that it was looming over had me at one point walking willingly towards what I truly believed would be my actual, physical death. Long story short, gentleness and love are the answer to everything.
JG: What specifically do you feel you let go of through the process?
BF: Well, for a while at least, I definitely let go of anything most people would accept as ‘reality’. All told, you could say that I let go of my sanity. Ironically though, I believe it was for the purpose of regaining it, or becoming more conscious.
I also let go of the need to impose my own egoic will on situations. Facing my fears meant accepting what was happening, and letting go of trying to force things to be different. When I surrendered to the idea that I was going to experience things for Love at all costs, things got better. Everything happens when you recognize that everything is perfect in any (and every) given moment.
