Living In Awareness  Day 4

Clock Time & Psychological Time

I hope you ended yesterday with a clearer understanding of the concepts of time. More specifically, I hope you have a clearer understanding that time is a man-made concept, and is very different from the eternal moment of Now. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with time; actually, having a clearer understanding of time, and all that it entails, can and will support you to live in Awareness. Today, I want to take it one step further. I want you to understand the difference between ‘clock-time’ and ‘psychological time.’ Having a clear understand of the difference between the two will help you not only move through life more easily and gracefully, it will also help you manage your time better.

‘Clock-time’ is referencing a specific moment in time, and using it to either manage your time, or to alert you to a specific time, or to reserve that time. We use clock-time for making and keeping appointments. We use clock-time to remember birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. We use clock-time for carving out specific or a desired amount of time. We use it to measure achievements, taking tests, etc. Referencing and using clock-time simply helps you move through life with more grace and ease than not using it.

‘Psychological time’ is when the mind begins to reference the past or a projected future, regardless of what is occurring in the present moment, and begins to contaminate the present moment, or take us away from the present moment. This occurs because most of us have not been trained to understand the mind, how it functions and operates. Out of habit, when the mind throws out a thought, you go there with it. In those moments, the mind is the puppet master, the mind is the master, the dictator; it has you jumping where it asks.
