Living in Awareness – Day 4
If you truly want to be the master of your own mind, you will have to not only understand the difference between clock-time and psychological time, you will have to know how to use them. You will have begin to practice Awareness around these two areas, and begin to use each of them consciously, and intentionally.
Ways To Use Clock-time
If you have not started working from a calendar, I would suggest you start. I am a huge advocate for keeping a calendar, and keeping it current. I am a person that has a lot going on, and I would often be lost without my calendar to help me stay on track, on time, and in balance. I not only use the calendar to set conventional appointments with myself, but I also set appointments with myself for rest, relaxation, meditation, etc. I have reminders set on the calendar updating me on my to-do lists, upcoming events, deadlines, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. My calendar helps me not only see what is happening, it helps me see what is going to happen. It helps me manage my time, and to use time consciously, creatively, purposefully, and intentionally.
Ways to Use Psychological Time
Psychological time is a mind-based time. It is where you are either engaged with the mind, thinking about a time that has passed, or being engaged with the mind, thinking about a time that has not come. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this, actually, when done purposefully, it can be very beneficial and supportive. However, very seldom is this done with purpose or intent.
