Heart-Based Weight Loss
Do you wake up everyday with a sense of purpose? Does your life have meaning? These are important questions to ask yourself when it comes to making enduring changes. The reason for this is people who wake up everyday and engage in goal directed behavior tend to lead happier and healthier lives. Many of you may just be going through the motions. Waking up, going to work, coming home and watching TV and then doing the same thing day in and day out. When we don’t feel that our lives have meaning, it is easy to make choices that don’t serve us.
Ways to Increase Your Sense of Purpose:
One of the best ways to have more purpose in your life is to be in service of others. This may be through serving our families or our community. Being in service to another helps us to increase our compassion, empathy and ultimately, to expand our hearts. Research has shown that volunteering has many health benefits as well as gives our life a deeper meaning. Another way is through awareness. Contemplate what is important to you. What are your values? Are your actions congruent with your value system? Another important way to increase your sense of purpose is through sharing your talents and gifts with other people. We all have abilities that makes us unique, figure out a way to share those with other people. Maybe that is starting a blog or teaching a community education class. Maybe it is starting a community group or just taking the time to connect with someone one on one.
