Mind/Body Weight Loss – Day 23
Take the Long View
How does all of this fit into the bigger picture? What are the common characteristics of a high quality of life?
– Physical activity primarily through activities of daily living e.g. walking, gardening
– Maintaining a positive outlook
– Take time out for rest and relaxation
-Have sense of purpose
-Eat wisely (primarily plant based)
– Connection with family and community (Illness vs. Wellness)
When you move from a place of joy and purpose, when you have a base of social support, it is much easier to make choices aligned with your values. So if you broaden your idea of your resources, in what ways can you manage them more appropriately? Think about what you can do to connect and collaborate with your friends, family and community. How can you give back, be of service or create a sense of community? Become aware of when you need help or when you can be of help. Seek out the resources necessary to achieve your goals.
Study after study suggests that people who have a good support network cope better, maintain sense of identity, and have decreased stress levels and a more positive outlook. Use your resources wisely. Without stress reduction and relaxation you will deplete your resources. Remember, love more, laugh often, eat wisely and move creatively.
