Mind/Body Weight Loss – Day 8

Build Faith in Yourself

One of the benefits of food logging is that as you do the soul level work, and begin to shift your choices, you build faith in yourself.  Because you can see your choices over a period of time, you know in your heart and in your mind, that even if you have a “bad” day, the overall picture shows you are making better, healthier choices over the long haul.  This can be very motivating.

Look for Missing Nutrients

This is a big one.  We tend to be creatures of habit and many of us eat the same things over and over.  So food logging is a great way to see where you might be missing out.  Again, once you recognize this you can add in more foods that contain the nutrients you need.

Log your food for at least two days this week. Log a weekday and a weekend day.  Don’t try to change your diet to keep under a certain caloric intake, just eat as you normally would and keep track of it.  If you try to change the way you eat without having a baseline and the initial recognition of it, you will fall back to your old pattern of eating.  Once your eyes are open, it is so much easier to make the changes.  Remember, no guilt!  Only awareness.

Hint:  There are so many good free apps out their for food logging.  I would suggest getting one for your smart phone or computer.  It makes the task of food logging so much easier. It also allows you to see reports on the nutrients you are eating.  For example the fiber or the amount of vitamin C you consumed during the day.  I use myfitnesspal.com, but there are many out there.  Find one and get started.
