Reclaim Your Powerful You! – Day 18
Whether we mindfully attend to a simple task, craft an object with our hands, or rebuild our lives with our hearts, we always have the opportunity to connect with the essential nature of our work. In doing so, we learn and appreciate the power of our abilities. We realize that we can create anything. What is more, as the creator we can consciously select the materials for our creations.
In addition to utilizing our power as we consciously chop wood and carry water, we gain autonomy with self-reliance. Autonomy and self-reliance are the gateway to freedom.
If all modern conveniences were not available to you, would you be able to take care of your basic needs? Do you own any axes or buckets?
Perhaps it is time to take an insightful look at your reliance on life’s conveniences as well as your ability to depend on your own means. In which of these two buckets do you pour most of your power? To fill latter bucket, maybe it’s time for you to learn to chop wood, carry water, plant a garden, can your food, knit your own socks, ride your bike and willfully cultivate your sovereignty.
“…though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on the plot of ground which is given him to till.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson, from Self Reliance
