Boundaries: Kindness is one thing; boundaries are another. When you are in balance, you can offer both in earnest. Whether the boundaries you set are verbal, physical, or energetic, it is important to be clear and firm. Whether or not you choose to set obvious boundaries outwardly, you can retain clarity and firmness inwardly, which makes a world of a difference in whether or not others respect them.

Taking Time Out: Do you dare clear your calendar of all obligations and choose to do nothing at all? A time out isn’t necessarily a vacation or weekend get-away, it can be as simple as taking a time out from your daily routine, whether it’s interacting with others, watching TV, browsing the internet, or driving anywhere. It may seem like a stretch to give yourself a full time-out day, so begin with a smaller segment of time. Who knows? Maybe you’ll enjoy your time out so much you’ll start a whole new tradition and give yourself one day a week. Maybe you can call those days Sabbath or Sundays.
Stop Thinking!: Between those to do lists, daily planners, online calendars and everything else to help keep you on track, your left-believes in its ultimate importance. Imagine, for a peaceful moment, a true letting go. What if you gave yourself permission to stop thinking? You may not be able to quiet your mind completely, but maybe you release trying to figure everything out, plan each moment or spin your thoughts into a worried frenzy. Try replacing your over-thinking with waves of deep breathing.
