J is for Joy

 

If you are feeling joy, it’s a good sign that you are living consciously. Or rather, if you are feeling burdened and stressed, it’s a sign that you are not living consciously.

The Joy Of Being

Here is a fantastic quote about joy from The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle:

“Ask yourself: Is there joy, ease, and lightness in what I am doing? … If there is no joy, ease, or lightness in what you are doing, it does not necessarily mean that you need to change what you are doing. It may be sufficient to change the how. “How” is always more important than “what”.”

I have to admit that while preparing these articles for the 30-Day challenge, the deadlines were beginning to stress me out! I realized I was letting that stress overpower my being conscious and present as I wrote, and I was not feeling joy, ease, and lightness.

I knew I had to look at and change the “How”.

And I did it primarily by following this advice (again, from The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle):

“As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out of present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love – even the most simple action. … So do not be concerned with the fruit of your action – just give attention to the action itself. The fruit will come of its own accord.”
