N is for Namasté

Namasté is a greeting or acknowledgement that means the God or the divine in me honors the God or the divine in you. It’s derived from Sanskrit but many of us in the West have adopted it because we appreciate its sentiment.

You can actively practice this beautiful and rewarding way of interacting even without saying the greeting aloud.

You do this by really connecting with every person you have even the slightest interaction with.

“Identify w/your spiritual heart, identify w/your soul. And then you’ll see the people that are around you as soul. That’s being seen in our real self. Not as roles.” ~ Ram Dass

You are touching their soul, as a soul. It’s different than simply conversing or being friendly. It involves taking an extra moment — or maybe just a more intentional & present moment — to really see them. As a whole being, and all that entails.

It’s a rich and intimate experience.

As Michael Brown says in his powerful workbook The Presence Process:

“By setting our intention to appreciate the Inner Presence of another, we simultaneously make a choice to give ourselves an opportunity to look directly into the eyes of God.

We simultaneously give God the opportunity to look back and give us a wink.

We give ourselves an opportunity to remember that we are all connected cells in One body that has One mind, that feels from One heart and that dances from One spirit. “
