The ABC’s of Actively Being Conscious Day 25

W is for “What If … ?”

“What if … ?” is a powerful question.

And not just because it helps prompt new ideas (which it does, and is valuable in itself), but because in asking it you step into a slightly altered reality.

It opens something that was previously closed.

It stretches something that previously was limited.

“Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

Good questions don’t just stretch your mind, but the fabric of your reality. It’s now an expanded reality with new probabilities.

This can play out in a few different ways.

The Creative Power of Imagination

The moment you ask yourself the question, you automatically imagine yourself experiencing a new possibility.

And imagining it takes you one step closer to it being a reality.

So, you ask it … and then you forget about it for awhile. Then as you relax, thus entering an open state where you are not actively thinking about something, ideas start popping in faster than you can even keep track of. The question takes on a life of its own and takes no further effort on your part. In fact, you probably wouldn’t be able to stop it if you tried.

And over the next little while, if you choose to cooperate, it can become reality.

You Often Get More Than You Expect

Not only do you get an answer to your question, but you get way more. And sometimes the effects can be far reaching.

  • You become enthused. Excited. Alive!
  • You get inspiration and ideas that relate to that question.
  • You make some fun discoveries while researching them.
  • You enjoy your day immensely.
  • Your upbeat energy is infectious to those in your life.
