Your Conscious, Friendly Mind – Day 17

When we are asleep, walking in unawareness, we miss the essential Being within.  We never come to know the true Self, the one who is constant, the one who experiences. We never come to know true, enduring joy. We live superficially, caught up in the external, in the excitement or frustration of the moment. Any occasional happiness is inevitably followed by unhappiness.  We miss life’s promise, what could be, what is meant to be.

When we live a soul-centered life, we become happy, for to be with the spirit is to be in peace and contentment. ?As we live a materially engrossed life, we face the storms of life without an anchor. Our spiritual being, our friendly, conscious mind is an anchor. Only a spiritually awakened person can discriminate between what is good for him and what is not good for him at any given period of time and avoid the evil consequences of cause and effect.

As we awaken and arise in the higher, unifying life of your spirit, we accept. We accept everyone we meet as a spiritual being, like ourselves. Confronting our own limitations with compassion, we become more appreciative of the problems and weaknesses of others. The pain of others affects us as much as our own. Our concern for the less privileged deepens. As our spirit grows in understanding, we no longer fight against what comes. We perceive the sustaining grace available in all experience. We learn to trust and accept where life is leading.
