Your Conscious, Friendly Mind – Day 29
We come to know life more closely if we visit works of deep compassion. Our heart expands and, in the expansion, our spirit blooms. The ego melts. We come to see the importance and the joy of being a direct instrument, of doing what little we can do for others.
We do as much as is in our heart for the poor and less privileged in the world. But do not feel guilt for what we cannot do! That is not going to lead anywhere. ?Instead rejoice in what little we are doing for the sake of all those who have come into our lives. Do we think when we give to the poor then only something great is done?
No, it is our love for everyone we come across in life and how we help others even through our spiritual friendship, and some good words, they are the gifts that the Divine is happy to receive from us. We cannot love others till we have really understood that every love starts from our expanded heart and first make sure we have loved our heart the most, the ultimate giver of all that we plan to give.
Whatever helps our heart to expand moves us into a deeper experience of life. Contraction pushes us into misery. Contraction is the soil for all the agonies of our life. Direct works of loving compassion are a platform from which we work to free ourselves from bondage, from all attachments, by growing in love. We expand in compassion. Smallness falls away.
