Your Conscious, Friendly Mind – Day 30

What is needed is a soul-centered life, not a self-centered life. What is needed is a compassion centered life, a prayer centered life, a spirit-centered life that transcends dogma.
A true culture of the spirit will always be an interfaith spirit. Human survival demands that we understand the essence of our personal religion and transcend the externalities of form, dogma and belief to open-heartedly embrace the light and value of all traditions. Humanity can no longer afford to confine and divide itself in the small-minded religious life that is based on fear and division. We must flow toward the ocean of the One, unifying spirit where all religions mingle in love, harmony, peace and spiritual coexistence.
The purpose of religion is basically one of transcendence. In the oneness of spirit, a true Hindu has to be by spirit a devout Christian, a devout Buddhist, a devout Muslim. In the oneness of spirit, we all belong to all religions of the world. Any true religion will always take us toward oneness.
There are many people of good will who are relentlessly working to alleviate human suffering. One thing that has been missing, though, is a concerted and sustained, collective interfaith endeavor of the spirit. We need a larger quantum of spiritual energy to counteract the tsunami of negative forces at work in the world. Only if we move beyond our own individual religious affiliation and join hands with all other faith traditions will humankind be able overcome the dark forces at work on the planet.
