Your Pain Can Lead to Your Passion

Mary Murphy

Marlise:  It is a conscious choice because it isn’t that you ignore the pain.  It’s about seeing the pain, becoming aware of it, and often looking at the pain for what insight it wants to give you.  Often pain arrives in life because there’s a new road to walk down.  And if you’re not paying attention you won’t walk down that road.  In my understanding, we’re always being guided toward our fullest potential.

You’ve got millions of people watching you Mary and you have an amazing gift that we all need to learn.  You critique people in a way that uplifts the spirit – but still tells them, “This is what you need to learn.”  This is mastery.  When you have a level of mastery you value people.  And even if you tell them something they could do better, they get that you value them.  And you model that every single time you speak.  It’s amazing.

Mary: Thank you. We’ve seen the reality shows where somebody is belittled to the point that it has nothing to do with whatever talent they’re even talking about.  We have no right as human beings, to annihilate somebody or somebody’s human spirit.  I’m so adamant about that.  I know there are people that even teach dance in that manner that they would annihilate you and build you back up. No.  In no circumstance do I think it’s a good thing to put anybody down.

Marlise:  Agreed…  We’re going to take a moment now and go into a Stillness Session. And Mary, you probably haven’t experienced this before. So don’t worry – you won’t float away.  You’ll be able to come back and talk again.
