Deborah King: Seeking the Light
OMTimes: How did you discover that you had the gift of healing?
Deborah King: I was a successful attorney in my twenties when I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. While exploring treatment options, I discovered alternative medicine and had an amazing remission at the hands of a healer. Along the way I got control of the alcohol and drug addictions that I’d been using to bury my abusive childhood. My life took a complete U turn after that! I left the corporate arena for the world of healers, sages and shamans, where I studied ancient and modern healing systems, ultimately developing a powerful process of my own.
OMTimes: What have you been up to lately?
Deborah: 2013 has been a busy year! I’ve held several healing and coaching workshops all over the country – at Miraval in Tuscon, Kripalu in the Berkshires, Omega in upstate New York – in October I’ll be appearing at the First Unity Campus in Florida and the Open Center in New York City, and in November I’ll be speaking, along with a bunch of other Hay House authors, at the Hay House I Can Do It event in Pasadena, California. OMTimes: Tell us about your new book – what inspired you to write it?
Deborah: My first books, Truth Heals and Be Your Own Shaman were all about healing yourself, processing the unexplored emotions and past traumas that we all have that block us from our true path. Entangled in Darkness: Seeking the Light takes that idea one step further. It’s all about living your best life – working through your inner darkness and living in the light – so you can help other people. If you watch the news, I think you’ll agree that right now the world needs enlightened people to step up and do what they can to spread a little light!
