The Role of Women in Pakistan
According to the article “The role of educated women in Pakistan’s development”, by Mian Usman, women are the key to development in any society. He says “In my opinion women are far better than us in time management, they are task oriented, better and multi-tasking and far better in communication skills if they have a solid educational back ground. But, the word ‘woman’ in Pakistan is synonymous with ‘endurance’. She is simply forced to accept certain bare facts once she grows up to be a woman. Be it on streets, or for that matter in restaurants, a woman is primarily required to be alert. It is best to try and not notice, women are told. According to Hina Jilani, Lawyer and Human Rights Activist,
“The right to life of women in Pakistan is conditional on their obeying social norms and traditions.”
Pakistan is considered the third most dangerous country in the world for Women, according to Thomas Reuters Foundation
Women in Pakistan are left with little if any protection at all against violence, discrimination, partially because the Pakistani Justice system refuses to see violent actions against Women as violation of Women Human rights. Pakistan is a country were cruel statistics prevails, such as from UNHCR which quantifies as many as 1000 Women and girls Victims of Honor killings and/or acid throwing .
