Fran Drescher was at the top of her game as the lead in the popular sitcom, The Nanny when she learned she had uterine cancer and underwent a radical hysterectomy. Her personal path to Healing was in writing her story in the book Cancer Schmancer, which became a New York Times best-seller. During her book tour, she realized just how many women had gone through what she had and was inspired to found the Cancer Schmancer Movement and Cancer Schmancer Foundation to transform women from patients into medical consumers and to shift this nation’s priority from searching for a cancer cure towards prevention and early detection of cancer.

As Fran so eloquently states, “I got famous, then I got cancer, and now I live to talk about it. Sometimes the best gifts come in the ugliest packages.” Bravo, Fran, you are an inspiration to us all.
