How did you go from being a music industry executive to a bestselling novelist and now a filmmaker?
I left my music industry job in 2004 to work with my wife Madisyn Taylor on her budding aromatherapy business. Within a short amount of time, it became obvious to me that her successful business was on the same trajectory as my music industry career and we spent all our spare time meditating and doing yoga to deal with the craziness of having a successful business in Los Angeles. We then had a heart to heart talk about integrating our interest with spirituality and better living with our careers which is how our inspirational website DailyOM was born. DailyOM forced us to make decisions with our hearts instead of our heads, and although Madisyn was the writer responsible for the DailyOM content, books began to fall out of me primarily because we were both listening to our intuition and what the universe wanted to say through us. The film naturally happened in the same way the books did.
