In 2000 Asheville Yoga Center began training yoga teachers. Today, AYC’s has trained over 2,000 teachers and boasts some of the most knowledgeable teachers in the southeast.

AYC offers 200 HR and 500HR Yoga Alliance certified teacher trainings including three separate 200 Hour programs four 500 Hour programs. The 200 Hour Trainings include the Total Yoga Immersion, a three week – 230 hour Intensive Yoga Teacher Training Certification.

This comprehensive training, runs over three weeks and shares a curriculum with the 9-month Live in Yoga weekend program.

In 2012 AYC added a 200 Hour Therapeutic Yoga Certification which runs over nine weekends.

AYC and Yoga Alliance’s 500 Hour programs include Your Yoga Teacher training, a broad survey option that allows students to self-select 11 weekend modules to be completed within 5 years.

In 2013 AYC introduced a 5-week immersion option to complete a 500 Hour Yoga Alliance Certificate in one event. Currently, there is no other teacher-training program in the country that offers a faster path to 500 Hour Certification.

In addition, AYC offers a 500 Hour Therapeutics Training and the country’s only Classics of Yoga Certification focusing almost exclusively on the primary source root texts of Hatha Yoga including The Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika and The Upanishads.

As of October 2013 Asheville Yoga Center guests are invited to rent rooms at the newly refurbished Yogi House, only a short walk away from the AYC studios. The Yogi House provides a comfortable atmosphere for teacher training students and offers single and double rooms with lots of common space to interact.
