His image and personality are come from several mythological figures including Thor, Odin, and Zeus. But his name comes from a wealthy 4th century bishop who had a reputation for secretly giving gifts. Today, he is the jolly gift bringer who visits the homes of children, around the world, upon a sleigh pulled by twelve magic reindeer. Sharing in in the myth and magic is Mrs. Clause, Santa Claus’s immortal wife.
