Jeff Olson:The Power Behind the The Slight Edge
Jeff Olson: The Slight Edge philosophy began as an observation of people. Over the years, I had many interactions with key speakers and authors in the self-help industry and I saw a lot of good content. But what I observed was when people learned these great concepts to be more successful, lose weight, learn a new trade, etc., was that they didn’t have a philosophy that allowed them to implement this content into their life in a sustaining manner. The Slight Edge provides the philosophy to make those how-to’s happen. It gives people the confidence in themselves to achieve great things by focusing on the small things that over time make a big difference.
Over the last few years I have added happiness as an element of The Slight Edge philosophy after being inspired by the wealth of academia that proved that happiness is a choice we make by small daily decisions and practices. Research was also able to prove that by doing things to bring happiness to others, you actually become happier in the process. I see this concept of choosing happiness and spreading happiness becoming one of the main topics of our next decade and beyond.
Omtimes: Jeff, you say there are two types of people in this world, the “Gee I’m Glad I did” and the “Darn I wish, I had.” What would be your personal advice for those people that are part of the group you call “Darn I wish I did.” How can one break this mindset?
