No matter what you call it, the legend of the gift giver has always been the embodiment of generosity and goodwill. This legend has spun a tapestry of wonders that has become the Santa Claus we know today. George Noory sits with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to discuss their origins and how they came to be.
The legendary gift giver goes by many names, and the one we may be most familiar with is Santa Claus. His image and personality are come from several mythological figures including Thor, Odin, and Zeus. But his name comes from a wealthy 4th century bishop who had a reputation for secretly giving gifts. Today, he is the jolly gift bringer who visits the homes of children, around the world, upon a sleigh pulled by twelve magic reindeer. Sharing in in the myth and magic is Mrs. Clause, Santa Claus’s immortal wife.
