James Van Praagh: Spirit Talk
Shelly Wilson: What is a medium?
James Van Praagh: A medium is someone who is very highly psychic, very sensitive so they are at the full scope of that psychic ability. They are very, very in tune with their sensitive nature, but they are also able to tune into a higher frequency of energy or other dimensions that are all around us. A medium is someone, kind of like a radio station, that can tune into higher frequencies. The Spirit people are able to use that medium. The brain dies at death, but the mind is part of the soul, so the mind is what is really used by the Spirit people, and they will project their thoughts, an image and a feeling to the mind of the medium. The medium interprets and brings it [this information] in and then gives it to the person they are doing the message for.
From my own experiences as a medium, I believe the healing aspect of mediumship is apparent. This aspect is conveyed as James provides an example of a father who has passed and wishes to communicate a message to his daughter that he truly loves her. James states, “So much work goes on with mediumship behind the scenes in the Spirit world and most people don’t realize that.” He is referring to the alignment necessary for those loved ones in the Spirit world, the individual receiving the message and the medium to come together for the communication between them to occur.
To clarify who mediums converse with, I’ve asked James to describe the difference between incarnate and discarnate energy:
