Speak Truth

We often wonder what life is all about; what it is worth living for; if there is ever a truth behind everything; and whether this truth is relative, universally confirmed, objective or subjunctive.

To discover the truth, no matter what level, we practically need to develop a sense of presence, of awareness. Are we really present when, for example, we lose our patience and common sense; when we produce a car accident on the highway; when we behave aggressively in words and actions; or, when we throw a sharp judgment upon someone?

A person with presence is an observer both of self and of the environment. An observer is always curious and uses critical thinking all the way in seeking the truth.

When one starts this journey, they will notice along the way that we all face a universal truth, valid and put out there as to be reached. But in parallel, we also face our own individual truth that brings to life the person we really are. It discovers our fears and desires, shortcomings, talents and values.

Most of the time, even if we have the urge to meet this `guest`, we welcome it with a certain amount of resistance, because we feel we instantly become vulnerable. We fear disappointments, disputes and inferiority.

As a result, we begin to build an inner world full of sorrow, frustrations and pain, as well as a kind of wishful desire to reach the courage we naturally need. There comes a time when this overload is suffocating and hard to handle.

So, why is it better for us to speak our truth, no matter how hard and no matter the situation?

In the midst of confusion, we find the courage to speak up even if our voice shakes or hesitates. We can immediately spread this vibe of encouragement around us.

We become lighter physically and emotionally, and we ease the burden.

We eliminate duality and hypocrisy.

We clear our mind and conscience.

We overcome fear and shame.

We learn to be direct in an assertive way.

We give an example and inspire others.

We give advice, which may save lives.

We create adventure and attract goodness.

We open the eyes of others around us, and can overcome difficult situations/circumstances.

We look in the mirror, find our self, and start enjoying and loving life honestly.

We get to reach people, engaging in interesting and productive dialogues.

We claim our rights and make justice occur.

We become the creator of our own life.

We contribute to the universal values.

In the end, finding and speaking your truth is both painful and constructive, but it surely can bring positive, long-term results. When we take the risk of not heading towards our truth, we continue to remain with pain and regret.
