Interview Actor Terry Chen
Terry Chen: Continuum is a time travel paradigm. Which can definitely make things tricky, but our writers are always around to confirm or evolve story. The collaboration on this show make the challenges opportunities.
Dana: I know some actors prefer certain roles or the story does it for them. How do you choose the roles you want to portray?
Terry Chen: I want to experience playing every character that has ever existed. In my mind. Just kidding. I’ve been very fortunate to play lots of different roles. There isn’t one specific type of character I like playing. Obviously as an ethnic minority I don’t want to be type cast, which is really tough in this business, but I keep putting myself out there for varied roles. Sometimes we get responses, sometimes we don’t. It’s all in the trying for me. I have a love/hate thing with roles that challenge or scare me. Maybe because of type casting, but I’ve learned to embrace those opportunities and just commit to whatever I’m playing.
Dana: You have a great deal of violent scenes. Do you do your own stunts or ever get hurt on set?
Terry Chen: I like to think I can do my own stunts like any other jackass actor. Our stunt coordinator, Kimani Ray Smith, is incredibly talented and choreographs every fight scene to feature film standards. Like I mentioned before we’re good friends so there’s no option of disappointment. At the end of the day our stunt performers are much more capable of pulling off the goods and never fail. They’re all real super heroes. Dana: What can you tell me about your character this upcoming season on the show?
