Joe Cross – Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead

So I began a journey, which took about a year to get my ducks in a row as to what I would do. And I realized I turned my back on Mother Nature, I turned my back on the real food that’s on our planet — the fruits, the vegetables, the nuts, the grains and the seeds. And I was effectively living mostly on processed food — food made by people in white coats.

So I thought there’s been this magnificent love affair, romance between humanity and plant that’s made us the most successful species on this planet. And I kind of came along and said forget about that. I’m going to go invite the new kid on the block, which is the processed food, and I turned my back. So I essentially thought, what if I could reverse? What if I could give myself a shot at getting well?

And so that was one step. The next step was the fact that I was 100 pounds heavier than I needed to be, and what was that? What was this weight on me? And I basically looked at it as stored up energy waiting for lean times. And as you and I both know, Marlise, in today’s world there’s not too many lean times. So I needed to create my own lean time. And that’s kind of where the journey started, and the idea of combining plants, and then juicing to start my journey, that’s how it began.

And then a friend of mine said, “Joe, you’re the least likely person to do this. Why’d you put a camera on yourself?” And so the rest is history. But I’ve got to tell you, the fact that over 10 million people have seen my movie — when I started this, I thought maybe 10,000 people might see it. So it’s well beyond my expectations.
