And so I don’t go out and say to people, you should do this, you should do that. What I do is share the story that happened to me. I share it in movies, I share it in books, and I share it when I talk. And I’m very conscious–

 

Marlise:  So how hard was it for you to give up the chicken, the fish, the meat — whatever it is that you were eating — how hard was that? And how did you make it happen? Were you committed because of your health? Were you committed because you said so, and so now you have to stick to it? What made you stick to it for 60 days, for goodness sakes?

Joe Cross: Well I actually stuck for it longer than that. What you don’t see in the movie was the thinking that went into this strategy, the actual logic of treating it like a business, like trying to solve a problem, and I’m focused on this is the single most important thing in my life is to get well, to get off medication.

I’m sure there are thousands of listeners right now that are listening with a chronic illness, with a chronic disease, with something that they have to live with — the pain, the suffering — every day. And when you have that, if you are given a chance to say, hey, you know what? Imagine what life would be like without this pain, without the medication, without the suffering. Imagine what life would be like.
