Shep Gordon: The Supermensch Interview
OMTIMES: Oh, we agree. We tend to believe in all paths.
Shep Gordon: Yep. Exactly. Yeah. Yep.
OMTIMES: All right. Here’s the last question I have for you; although, you know, I could talk for hours: What do you perceive as your greatest accomplishment, and what legacy do you wish to be remembered for–and are those the same?
Shep Gordon: I think the two things that I’m probably–the three things that I’m probably proudest of is–well, the two I’m proudest of, and the one I’m luckiest for, is that Alice is like a life partner and brother. And we pulled off a wonderful thing. And helping to create the celebrity chefs I’m really proud of because I think it’s a profession that needed dignity. And probably the best thing in my life was the four kids coming into it. They really made my life whole.
OMTIMES: Those were all things that, if I had time, I was going to talk about. Do you think the children coming into your life is karma? You know, for all the good you’ve put out, you’ve done for others, all for the sacrifice of your own personal life.
Shep Gordon: You know, it’s such a hard question to answer, because there’s so many sides to it. You know, for me to end up having these four little angels in my life–their mom died, so they–it’s hard to talk about karma when that’s part of it. I don’t know. I really don’t, you know, it’s a very–it’s a muddled and confusing thing. It’s a very ying-yang of happiness and sadness. And it was their mom’s birthday three days ago. So, for all of us, it was a poignant moment.
