Deepak Chopra: One World

OMTimes: There are so many alternative healing modalities, how does someone know what is right for them from Ayurveda to energy healing, diet, Yoga, Reiki, Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, Astrology, Crystal Healing, Meditation, etc, etc. … how does someone know how to navigate the growing field of alternative healing?

Deepak Chopra, M.D: I do not like the word alternative healing. An integral approach to that is good sleep, meditation, movement, and Pranayama. A healthy diet and emotional wellbeing are the most important ingredients as for the specific modality you asked about it is up to the individual to do their own research and decide which is most applicable to them.

OMTimes: What would you say to a young person just beginning their journey of self-realization?

Deepak Chopra, M.D: Take it easy.

OMTimes: How does one reconcile the often competitive drive it takes to succeed and his your teaching of the law of least effort? How does one balance the seeming need for being ambitious with surrendering and trusting the process?

Deepak Chopra, M.D: I don’t believe in hard work, driving ambition, or exacting plans. I think these are all the last refuge of the failure. If you are grounded in “being” then effortless spontaneity allows you to be in the flow and you make the right choices and decisions when you need to make them.

OMTimes: Do you believe in power of prayer and how do you think it works?

Deepak Chopra, M.D: The power of prayer is really the power of intention. When we are grounded in “being”, intention has infinite organizing power.
