Tim Ryan – The Art of Mindfulness in Politics
In keeping with his focus on whole body health, Congressman Tim Ryan has introduced The Veterans and Armed Forces’ Health Promotion Act of 2013, a bill that focuses specifically on the mental health of American veterans through a broad range of services. Not only will his bipartisan bill offer veterans new pain management options and relieving some of the economic strain that brain injuries can put on the families of veterans but it will also offer new holistic approaches for treating the invisible wounds of war including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This bill promotes mindfulness, not just in large cities where these new forms of health are more likely to be embraced, but for all of our veterans who too often struggle with the mental burden of war with only limited support. Mindfulness is not just a benefit for the wealthy or the powerful; it is a part of health that all Americans, particularly our veterans deserve access to.
