Janet Mock:      I think the basic point is that he wasn’t there to connect with me.  He was there to sensational my life – not to transform and educate people. The space wasn’t with the intent to connect heart to heart as you said.

Marlise:     You are probably going to be dealing with a lot of challenging moments.  And, I think you’re doing an extraordinary job.  What is the most important thing that you could share that will support every single person listening today?

Janet Mock:      I would tell them to come to the world with a sense of openness, and also a sense of humility, meaning that you don’t know everything about everyone. Then you tend to operate in a world in a more open and understanding way where you really want people to contribute to you and hopefully you contribute to them.
