Gary Johnson: The Future of Cannabis Oil
Marlise Karlin: So you have to be responsible just as you would with drinking alcohol. Both are going to get you high but if you overdo it, you are going to have a different experience.
Gary Johnson: You are absolutely right. There is a responsibility on you, the user, and there is a responsibility from the manufacturers to point these things out. On the recreational side I would just contend that for those of you that are listening and have a glass of wine or two at the end of the day, marijuana products are similar in that regard. They take the edge off. Whatever you are seeking from alcohol I think that you get the same from marijuana. Only you don’t have the side effects associated with it.
Marlise Karlin: People are not going to stop “getting high” but there are a variety of alternatives. We touched on it earlier, about people incarcerated today for nonviolent drug offenses. The US Department of Justice reports that out of 1/3rd of all prison admissions, marijuana arrests account for 47.4%. So, what is that concerns you about the war on drugs and what would you like see changed?
Gary Johnson: Well, first of all, what a beautiful few minutes, Marlise. Thank you. Very nice… Something I talk about all the time is to try and find yourself in the present, that’s what we are all in search of, not an hour from now, not two days ago, but right now make the most out of everything that you have. So, thank you.
We have 2.3 million people behind bars in the United States. We have the highest incarceration rate of any country in the world. We have one million more people behind bars than Communist China with four times the population. Is it because we have such disregard for the law or is it because we have laws on the books that really shouldn’t be criminal? Half of everybody that we all know, friends, family, and coworkers have smoked pot. I suggest to you that those friends, those family, those coworkers are anything but criminal.
