Louise Hay: Loving Yourself to Great Health
Keeping a food diary is the first step to reconnecting with your body and noticing how food affects you. For most people, this will be all you need to point you in the right direction to make better choices for your health. Some patterns in food sensitivities and their related symptoms are easier to spot, like gluten and dairy, because they are more obvious categories of food that many people are sensitive to. Other sensitivities may be more challenging to spot. Working with a practitioner who can look at your genetics and recommend a healing diet can be helpful when you aren’t sure how to proceed. In my work, I’ve noticed that these sensitivities can shift over time. Your body is always in a state of movement. Sometimes it needs one thing and other times, another. Also, as your body heals, you can reintroduce the foods you removed from your diet. As you learn to listen to your body, you will know how to flow with these changes. You may find, like I did, that your intuition starts to guide you about which foods are right for you at what times. Most important of all, relax around food! Learn what you need, then relax around it. Have fun with it! Learn to make foods that you love and enjoy. If you are eating cardboard, joyless food, it’s not living. I was not great at cooking in the beginning and it took me a while to learn, but eventually I did and I was able to make more delicious healthy foods. Now, I have a commitment to food being delicious and healthy. If it doesn’t taste good, who wants to eat it? You’ll get a lot of delicious, healing recipes – even desserts — in our book, Loving Yourself to Great Health. And best of all, we teach you how to make your time in the kitchen fast, easy and fun.
