And The Word Said….
Often, part of our spiritual growth is the inner struggle of what we believe to be right or wrong, good or bad and whether one belief system is the one we should follow or stay away from, what name to put on the Creator, do we have angles, divas or devils? If it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that a belief we held onto for years is false, are we left with nothing or can we still take a message from this belief? Do we get so caught up in the details that we lose sight of the whole point of the story?
Think of a news event in your neighborhood. Something happens and a story develops around the event. By the end of the day there are more details added and taken away that it is difficult to know what to believe. We may get lost in the decision to pick a story instead of looking at all the stories, and uncovering the source.
When reading or listening to new ideas or rediscovering old ideas do so from the heart and allow it to guide you. Be open to new interpretations as you are coming from a different and evolved view point than you were years ago or even just yesterday. The traditions and believes of our ancestors helped them to become who they were, create our world and for this we respect them. Everyone does what they believe is the right thing at that moment in time. We can let go of the old thought patterns and still honor these traditions by remembering they served a time and place and if they have meaning for us today, then by all means, bring them into our sacred space.
Perhaps we need to let go of labels, and the need to prove things to be right or wrong but rather through our prayers and meditations, we learn to join with the Source, which is unconditional love, and then in turn become love. Regardless of what name we choose to give this Source, it is really more of a feeling, an emotion that guides us. In the end, it is not the story that we will remember but rather how it made us feel; and if there is no love in the story, it will not serve us for the higher good.
