Lucy Liu: One Outstanding Humanitarian
Deepak Chopra: It’s on the internet right now?
Lucy Liu: It’s on the internet. It will be on the internet, I’m guessing, for a very long time. If people want to watch it, they could just go to meenathemovie.com, and they have information there. They can find out about what’s going on outside of their own home.
Deepak Chopra: And we had a discussion afterwards, on how people can get involved and be participants in bringing about a change.
Lucy Liu: Yes, we had that panel discussion, which I thought was incredibly successful. Everyone seemed very engaged in the audience, and very curious about how they can help out and be involved. I think the one thing that Susan Bissell, from UNICEF, discussed, was that it was first started with awareness. It also starts with family and having a support system, so that children do not feel the need in America, let’s say, to run away and then be vulnerable. They would be less susceptible to other people coming and saying, ‘Oh, you know, I have a shoulder to cry on, I can take care of you, I have a place for you to stay.’ Suddenly, they are the john to this young girl who’s now going to be a prostitute for them, and they’re pimping out their services. You know, when you’re a child, you don’t really know how to take care of yourself. So, it’s really our job as adults to manage that, and make them feel like they’re in a safe environment.
Deepak Chopra: So, do check out the movie. Meenathemovie.com, right?
Lucy Liu: Yes, that’s right.
Deepak Chopra: –And get engaged. If you want to help the world and you want to feel good about yourself, I think you need to help somebody else. Let’s go back to how we met. We first met–you had done this book.
Lucy Liu: Yes, I had done this [art] book that I printed in Verona, Italy, and I was excited about it. But, before I started printing it up, I was really hell-bent on getting you to write a little something about the book, because the prints were also connected with spirituality. Of course, who better to talk about spirituality, than you?
