Mallika Chopra: Living with Intent
Mallika Chopra: It’s not just about meditation. I think also, you know, different people have different ways that they kind of tap into silence. Some people may do it through dance. Others may do it through music. Some people do their yoga practice or running.
And so, you know, there are many ways that we kind of find that peace for ourselves. But, for me, also incubate is really–it’s almost like, you know, when you plant a seed. And I really think of intents as seeds.
Sylvia Henderson: You also talk in the book about your grandmother and what a shining example of living a life of intent was that you witnessed through her example.
Mallika Chopra: Yeah, my grandmother was an amazing person. You know, she just believed that when she set her intent things would happen. And I have a story in there about, you know, she used to believe that the color of her sari would affect the–who would win the cricket matches, and another one where, you know, she decided that she was going to meet the first Prime Minister of India.
And so, my grandfather was a very established and well-known doctor and kind of really on the science side, but it was my grandmother who really tapped into spirituality and all these concepts. So, I think that’s very much also what shaped my father.
Sylvia Henderson: One of the most powerful questions that I notice you listed in that first chapter was, “What does the universe want from me or want of me?” And I thought that that was just brilliant.
Mallika Chopra: Yeah. So, that came from–you know, part of this book–I was very fortunate. I went and interviewed a number of amazing teachers, and Eckhart Tolle really added that question to my meditation.
And it’s a funny question, because actually often in my life I’ve been stressed to feel like I needed to know what the universe wanted from me and I needed to figure it out. And I think in kind of my conversations with him, I just–I realized that, I need to again just listen and those answers will pop up.
