OMTIMES: What are your expectations about the impact of this documentary? Is it already making waves?

Josh Rothstein: The expectations for the film are that it can spark a conversation and ideally inspire a whole new generation and reach a far larger audience. The hope is that it will support so many exciting and powerful messages as it relates to the fair trade world, as it relates to ethical consumerism, and as it relates to the new aid and development as well as so many of the encouraging models and signs that we see as it relates to community development. So, we’re hoping that the film can shed light on important programs and developments, and that we can garner a deep level of awareness and engagement so that our audience in everyday life leaves the theater feeling that they have an opportunity to have an impact. Small decisions can lead to very large changes. Specifically, in terms of an everyday purchase decision, when our audience leaves the theater we want them to consider the importance, now that they’ve been armed with this new knowledge, ideally the next time they have an opportunity to make a purchase, a coffee purchase, they’ll have a sense of the importance of ethically, responsibly sourced coffee. Ideally, if they have an opportunity to purchase a fair or direct trade cup of coffee, they’ll make that decision to purchase it and have the knowledge of what that purchase decision can make. Moving forward, it’s our goal here and the next step to build momentum with our like-minded strategic partners who share a common goal, an objective with us, and use the film as a tool of awareness to spread these messages as far as possible, to amplify so much of the good work that has already gone on. We hope that the film can serve to bolster so many messages that unfortunately have not received the attention that they should, given the extraordinary positive effects that they can garner.
