Paz Vega
OMTIMES: What was your reaction to be selected as the actress that would be playing all Paulo Coelho’s lovers in a same movie? How did you prepare yourself for this role?
PAZ VEGA: My character is a metaphorical recreation. Paulo had several lovers in his early life and most of them without a happy end. It was very interesting for me to explore that side of the love.
OMTIMES: What attracted you to the role of Luiza, and how was it for you to act/speak in Portuguese?
PAZ VEGA: Luiza is a woman who really is prepare for a serious relationship. But this is not the case of Paulo. I understand Portuguese and actually it is very close to Spanish. So It wasn’t to difficult to work with this language.
OMTIMES: Were you a fan of Paulo Coelho, as an author, before you got the film role?
PAZ VEGA: Yes, absolutely. I read so many of his books. He is a visionary and an excellent writer to connect with people from any culture. And I had the opportunity to meet him in person and it was an unforgettable day.
OMTIMES:. After working with the legendary Pedro Almodóvar, how was your relationship with Daniel Augusto during the filming of “Paulo Coelho’s Best Story”?
PAZ VEGA: Daniel is a great director with a special point of view. He is very perfectionist and he knows what he wants. My experience working with him was fantastic. He is very talented.
OMTIMES: What would you say is the biggest accomplishment in your career as an actress?
PAZ VEGA: After almost 40 movies, I still have the illusion and the excitement of the first day. I love my work even more than the beginning. I’ve worked in so many countries around the world and in many different languages. I’m a privileged person.
OMTIMES: Do you have a personal spiritual practice? or faith/belief you wish to share and how does it apply to your life and career?
