What if your Business was Actually the Adventure of Living?

It may sound a little trite, but please don’t dismiss these words I am about to tell you: If you are alive, you have a business. If you open your eyes in the morning you have a business. If you get up and brush your teeth, feed your cat, the kids, you have a business! Your life is your business, and you can create it any way you desire – if you are willing. It doesn’t matter if you actually have your own business, or if you are a stay at home parent, or an employee working for a company. Ultimately, everyone is in the business of living, and you can choose to create your life and living from a different space so that more of what is joyful for you can show up (and this includes money!). However there are a few things you need to be willing to do, in order to have a business (and living) that is joyful and creates money. You have to be willing to…

1. Change your point of view.

Your point of view creates your reality. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t.

2. Do more of what you love.

When you do what you love there is a sincere joy to business that is magnetic. And if you don’t know what you love, you have to commit to finding out!

3. Stop judging you.

Give up your judgments about you, about business, and ask questions like, ‘What else is possible?’ instead of deciding what is and isn’t possible before you even start. Most people are taught that business is this thing we do out of necessity, to pay the bills, support their family and so on, rather than choosing to do what they love that can make them money. I have lost count of the times people who have said to me “I don’t like business. I have to do it because I have a mortgage and bills, and I like money because of the choices that money gives me, but I don’t enjoy what I have to do to get it.”

That’s a pretty common point of view that people have, but here’s the thing: your point of view is what creates your reality, not the other way around. So if your life is your business and you decide you don’t like business, that point of view ensures that you won’t enjoy very much in life! And if you truly desire more money, you have to be willing to have a lot more joy. Why? Because money follows joy, joy does not follow money.

When you are creating business for the joy of it, and if you are living your life from the curiosity of discovering what else is possible, the money shows up. People often think this is a throwaway line, but it truly isn’t! Money shows up when you are actually choosing something that is fun for you.

Start making a list of what you love doing. And then, start doing them! Even if it’s just an hour a day. And keep adding to the list. Ask every day “what would it take to make money from doing the things I love?” Now, here’s a bit of advice – don’t get vested in what that should look like, keep an open mind, and just keep asking.

You will be surprised with what shows up, because in truth, it never shows up how you think it will and it’s often way better than you can imagine.

And whatever does show up, please don’t judge you. If things aren’t going the way you would like, judging you changes nothing. What does change things is asking a question like “what else is possible?” or “what’s right about this I am not getting?” because questions will empower to keep looking from a space of curiosity and not a place of judgment. Judgment is the biggest joy-killer on the planet, so if you want more joy and money, you have to be willing to give it on up!
