DALAI LAMA: Encouraging a Compassionate World

LARRY KING: President

THE DALAI LAMA: President…too long, I think.

LARRY KING: And what do you think of President Obama?

THE DALAI LAMA: Yes. Few occasion. Since first meeting, I sort of jokingly express his sort of appearances looks like a monk. Very sort of short hair. Yes. As the monk like that. I love him. Very good.

LARRY KING: The last time I talked to you was in February of last year. You came out in support of marriage equality. The Supreme Court has now said same sex marriage is okay. You have no question about that, do you?

THE DALAI LAMA: No question. Of course; those believer then I think according to their own religious tradition, I think should follow that. But then other people, and those people who are not much serious about their religious tradition, then okay.

LARRY KING: We have some social media questions, “How many wristwatches do you own? Also, do you feel we should live our lives on a schedule with time?

THE DALAI LAMA: Yes. This particular watch I think in early ’60 when my translator actually appointed by government of India. This watch, I exchanged. You see, I got one gold bracelet, I never wear that, that kind of watch. So then this watch old. But day and date. So I exchanged with him.

LARRY KING: So you follow time? All right. A. Smith (PH) on Facebook would love to know if the Dalai Lama has ever been in love. And how do you live without love from, without a partner? Have you ever been in love with a woman?

THE DALAI LAMA: Yes. Sometimes when I see a beautiful woman, I then feel, “Oh, beautiful.” But never felt, you see.

LARRY KING: Physical love. You never felt that?

THE DALAI LAMA: So even, you see, in my dream, as a monk, as celibate.

LARRY KING: You’ve been celibate all your life.

THE DALAI LAMA: Yes. When in my dream, you see, about meeting some beautiful sort of women like that, then immediately I remember I am monk. So in my mind, in my mind, monk-hood is the dearest. In my dream, I never felt I am Dalai Lama. But I often used to feel I am monk. So I really proud.
