Angela Levesque: Calm Mind, Open Heart

OMTIMES: In your own words and mind, what would be your definition of someone being a Lightworker?

ANGELA LEVESQUE: A lightworker is someone who is here to shine light on this dying paradigm and holds space for others to find their own light. I don’t think lightworkers are here to light the way for humanity. I think that implies that there is only one path. This leads us to believe that there needs to be some kind of consensus for us to move forward. That everybody needs to be on board with a certain issue before we can take any definitive action. This can leave people feeling hopeless and helpless. They want to change the world and yet they don’t know how. The most important aspect is that the person be authentic in their lives and align, their heart, their values, and their actions. So in that regard a lightworker helps people to experience the light within themselves. In their compassionate and patient way, they will continue to hold space for others until this end is achieved. Once enough people have experienced a shift in consciousness, I do believe we will be able to reach consensus on things. At that point, we will know our oneness, but until then the lightworkers just hold space for that to happen and continue to reflect light back onto the masses.

OMTIMES: How does one become a healer? Is this something that comes with you at birth, or what are the necessary steps?

ANGELA LEVESQUE: A healer in some ways is a misnomer. It implies that that person is creating the healing in someone else. All healing is self-healing; the healer’s role is to hold space for that person to do the work. The healer is actually more of a facilitator. She promotes the conditions for the healing to take place, but ultimately it is the individual’s mind, body and soul that do the true healing work. In essence, all people are healers. Some of us are just more inclined to facilitate the process in others. If someone is looking to do this work, it begins within themselves. They have to do inner work before they can begin to work with others. The best place to start is to learn how to create a calm mind and open heart. I believe that meditation is the best way to do this, but it isn’t the only way. Then consider the answers to these questions. What are you passionate about? What are your gifts? Then look for a healing modality that allows those passions and gifts the opportunity for expression. Finally, they should seek out a teacher who is trained in that modality and work with them as much as possible in the beginning. Remember, as you grow and discover yourself as a healer that you can put your own spin on your work. Your intuition should be your greatest ally, trust your feelings and always come from a space of love and authenticity.
